We built PaintCodeByReg because “what’s my paint code?” shouldn’t mean lying on the garage floor looking for a faded sticker.

How it works

Enter a registration or VIN and we identify the car from official DVLA and DVSA records. Then our own paint-code matching system — designed and built in-house — works out the car’s factory colour code. It checks the make, model, year and recorded colour against our catalogue of manufacturers’ factory paint codes and narrows it down to the shades that exact car was sold in. Where the vehicle’s own code is known we show it; where it isn’t, we say the result is likely and tell you where to find the label to confirm it.

Our data

Beyond lookups we publish free guides and UK car colour statistics built from the vehicles in our records. We don’t publish anything that identifies a car’s keeper. See our privacy policy.
