How do I find out what colour my car is?
Enter the registration above. We show the colour DVLA holds for the car, then the factory shades of that colour the model was sold in, with their paint codes.
Why does my logbook just say “grey”?
DVLA records one of a short list of colour families, not the manufacturer’s shade. A grey car could be any of several factory greys, and each has its own paint code.
My car is a different colour from its DVLA record — why?
Usually a respray. If you change your car’s colour you need to tell DVLA, using the V5C, so the record and the car match. Your insurer will want to know too.
Is the colour on the V5C the same as the paint code?
No. The V5C gives the colour family; the paint code is the exact factory shade, printed on a label on the car.
